The Professional Tour Guide Association of Houston is a volunteer organization dedicated to offering educational and networking opportunities to its members.
We are not a tour guide hiring service however groups and individuals are more than welcome to connect to our guides through the guide listing on this website.
We are a resource for professional Houston tour guides holding monthly meetings to facilitate learning and networking opportunities.
The organization was chartered in May 2000 when a group of Houston tour guides with a common interest and goal in mind of forming a professional association came together.
They researched other city tour guide associations and developed a model for Houston.
If you are interested in tour guiding and finding out more about the city we call home you might wish to consider joining our organization. You do not have to be a practicing professional tour guide to join as we have 2 levels of membership.
Associate PTGAH Membership ($30.00 per year)
For anyone interested in tour guiding and Houston, general members attend the organization's events and meetings.
Certified PTGAH Membership ($60.00 per year)
After joining at the general membership level members may choose to advance to the certified level of membership. Certified membership is for tour guides earning money for the tours they conduct. Certification is an easy and free process which comprises of educational class sessions and a test comprising of a short Houston city tour hosted by the applicant.
Advantages of becoming a certified PTGAH member include having a contact listing on this website in the "Guides" section, the support of and interaction with fellow professional Houston tour guides and the use and designation of being a certified professional Houston tour guide when promoting your tour services.
